NIKE

This is a modern version of the winged god NIKE (VICTORY) from the sanctuary of the Great Gods, Samothrace. The wings are an expression of fulfillment and spiritual worth. The piece depicts the spiritual god of victory who, as the world moves tagged to the axis of modernism, undergoes a horrible transformation to become a Minotaur (right) "the last degree in the scale of relations between the spiritual and the animal sides in man". She loses her wings to modern man who replaces them with a horrifying pair of horns (center).
